When it comes the time when you are on your last step of your makeup routine, whether it be lipstick, or touching up with that last bit of mascara. You want your 'face' to last the whole day, especially when you're busy and you don't really want to touch up your makeup throughout the day. This is why setting spray is one of the most important steps of your makeup routine, and is why you should invest in a good setting/fixing spray.. and I'm here to help you find the right one!

This setting spray claims to "create a sweat-proof, rub-resistant barrier for fresh-looking makeup that lasts up to 12 hours." This spray suits all skin types, and since I am a makeup artist, I prefer to use this on my oily/combination skin clients as it makes skin look dewy and luminous (which is awesome if you want your highlight to pop), without making the skin look oily or greasy. "This product is formulated with a complex to boost oxygenation and deliver a healthy-looking, radiant glow." I usually use this setting spray if I'm going for a full coverage makeup look and if I'm going for a night out, since it literally locks my makeup in place. I find that when I use this product on my normal skin type, that my makeup does not budge throughout the night, and I can always count on this product to do the job. I have the travel size 30ml bottle, and I only have a few drops left to use, so I will definitely be repurchasing another 30ml bottle, as I don't see the worth of buying a full size bottle for $43 if I only reach for it on full coverage night outs (which is very rarely, haha!)

Ahhh, the classic. Mac Fix +. If you're in the beauty/makeup community, there is no doubt that you've heard of this holy grail product. I honestly cannot live without this product, and I use this setting spray almost everyday to set my makeup in place. It never fails me! I have repurchased this product at least 5 times, and my mum and I both use this. I also like to use this product on almost every client, as I know I can't go wrong with it. In my opinion, it's the best setting spray out there on the market, as it not only feels hydrating and a like a glass of water for my skin, but it also makes my makeup last all day. This is a multi-use product, which is also why I love it so much, as you can spray your brush with it to make your highlight powder or eyeshadow more intense and pigmented. I also like using Mac Fix + when I pack on a lot of powders onto my face, as the formula just melts the powders into the skin, therefore making my face look less 'cakey'! This product makes your skin look so flawless, it's insane. If you haven't tried this product already, what are you waiting for? You won't be disappointed.

This is a luxurious, fancy product that will look great on your makeup vanity, and you will also feel like a goddess spraying this on your face. Just have a look at the packaging and how beautiful it is! As the product name suggests, it is a luminous product, so if you already have oily or combination skin, you might not like how this product sits on the skin. However, if you're like me or have normal to dry skin, you might appreciate this product and how it gives a nice, healthy appearance to the skin. As a setting spray, I wouldn't say this is the best setting spray out there, as it doesn't really lock the makeup in place, rather adds a fine dewy mist to the skin. Which is why I usually use a regular setting spray, such as the one mentioned above, MAC Fix +, and then to add a more luminous and glowy look I layer Tatcha on top. This product is "Formulated with 20 percent botanical oils and humectants that moisturize and leave skin dewy, it’s also infused with a Hadasei-3 Anti-Aging Complex that supports antiaging." So this is why you feel so luxurious when you spray this product onto your skin, as you know you're feeding your skin with the good stuff! I bought this product while I was in New York in January. I used it all throughout my 4 week holiday, and come to my surprise, I had only about 10ml of product left! I only use about 3 spritz on my face every morning, and for $64 AUD, I would expect to have a little bit more product. So overall, this is a good setting spray topper if you have normal to dry skin, and if you want to add a luminous look to the skin. However, I do believe the price is really steep for only 40ml of product, compared to MAC Fix +, which is 100ml of product. So you're basically paying for the packaging and the brand name.

URBAN DECAY All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray $49 This makeup setting spray has been a cult favourite amongst the beauty community for many years. It was recently repackaged from a white and purple bottle to this darker, more gothic look. The All Nighter setting spray is developed with Temperature Control Technology, and "regulates the temperature of your makeup so your eyes, lips and complexion is on point no matter the weather." This product also claims to have makeup looking flawless for 16 hours. I find that this product is great to use when the weather is humid, so I like taking this on trips to Bali or Singapore, where the weather is really sticky and humid. I also prefer to use All Nighter in the summertime, as it prevents my skin from getting greasy from sweating. You are also getting 118ml of product for $49, so I would say this product is worth it if you are looking for a setting spray where you will be in a humid climate or a situation where you will be sweating a lot (a.k.a pool party or beach!)
and the winner is?.. Drumroll please....
